Punta Gorda’s November 3 municipal election will include City Council Districts 1 and 4. City elections are nonpartisan, and only contested Council races will appear on the ballot.
Before voters head to the polls, the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce is bringing the candidates together for an open, community-focused Candidate Q&A.
The Chamber will remain politically neutral throughout this election.
But political neutrality should never mean civic disengagement.
The decisions made by our City Council have a direct impact on the future of Punta Gorda…from economic development and responsible growth to infrastructure, public safety, tourism, quality of life, and the environment in which our local businesses operate.
This event is about giving our community an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates, understand their priorities, and make an informed decision at the ballot box.
Questions will be preselected, and no candidate will receive the questions in advance. The order of responses will rotate throughout the evening, giving every candidate the opportunity to answer first, last, and everywhere in between.
While questions will naturally include topics important to Punta Gorda’s business community, local economy, growth, and tourism, this is a community event, and everyone is welcome.
There will be no endorsements.
There will be no campaigning from the Chamber.
There will simply be an opportunity to hear the candidates, compare their visions, and become a more informed voter.
Democracy works best when the community shows up.
