Alexia’s Weekend of R & R
By Alexia Martin
Punta Gorda has much to offer if you’re looking for a day trip or a long weekend. We wanted a long weekend off and decided to relax and unwind with a hotel stay at Four Points by Sheraton.
The hotel has a beautiful water front view and a great Tiki Bar & Restaurant which is where we started our long weekend. We enjoyed drinks and music along with overlooking the sunset.
The following day, we woke up and went for a long walk on the walking & biking paths overlooking the Charlotte Harbor. This town has many bike / walking trails to enjoy. As we walked along the harbor, we found Fishermans Village and enjoyed breakfast at Village Fish Market. A day of shopping is just what the doctor ordered as we spent the rest of the day enjoying the store’s at Fisherman’s Village.
As the day went on, we went on the “Harbor Tour” Cruise with King Fisher Fleet. We learned a lot about waterfront of Punta Gorda and Charlotte Harbor!
Dinner was at a nice restaurant at the end of Fisherman’s Village, The Captain’s Table, where we watched the sunset.
The following day, we started the morning with breakfast at Nino’s Bakery and hit the Golf Course at Twin Isles Golf. After a nice long round of golf, we had lunch and cold drinks at the Burgr’ Bar where we planned the rest of the day while enjoyed the tasty burger’s. Did you know they offer Buffalo Burgers?
We borrowed the a couple yellow bikes from the Bike Loaner Program and explored more of Punta Gorda and all the beautiful murals on the sides of the local buildings.
We finished the last night of our trip with dinner at the Ice House Pub for dinner where we played darts and learned how to play some unique British games.”
